Navigating Clients’ Eating and Body Image Challenges

CE Hours 2

About this live event

We live in a society that glorifies and moralizes thinness and “perfect” nutrition. Consequently, regardless of your clients’ presenting concerns, it is likely that many of them will express anxiety and/or dissatisfaction about their bodies or eating behaviors. As a clinician, do you know what to do when these concerns show up in the therapy room? In this session, we will discuss the biopsychosocial influences to eating behaviors and body image. We will identify warning signs and symptoms of eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns. We will cover the Intuitive Eating and HAES® principles. Finally, we will explore tools, interventions, and resources for supporting clients who present with eating and body image concerns.

Learning Objectives

  • gain insight into biological, psychological, and social contributing factors to disordered eating, eating disorders, and body image challenges.
  • identify warning signs and symptoms of disordered eating, eating disorders, and body image challenges.
